FOOTWEAR / INDEPENDENT CONCEPT
A study in movement, layered form and sculptural footwear.
Explore the process
LINZ Runners V1 explores a running-shoe silhouette through sweeping overlays, open spaces and a sculpted sole. The black palette shifts attention toward shape, surface and the relationship between the upper and the base.
The visual study considers how a shoe can feel fluid while maintaining a strong, recognizable profile. These images present design intent at the concept stage.

Curved overlays connect the heel and forefoot, building a continuous rhythm around the shoe.
Mesh-like texture, smooth panels and deeper recesses create contrast within the monochrome direction.
The side and angled views show how the silhouette changes as the upper, sole and tread come into view.

FORM STUDY
At silhouette scale, the deep sole and sweeping upper create the concept’s stance. At detail scale, openings and overlapping surfaces break up the mass and draw attention along the side of the shoe.
The profile and angled visualization offer complementary readings. One emphasizes proportion and line; the other reveals how the surface language moves around the object. The monochrome treatment keeps those relationships visible without relying on a contrasting color palette.
CONCEPT OUTPUT
The current presentation consists of footwear concept visualizations. It communicates shape, surface contrast and product character for review.
Physical fit, cushioning, material behavior and manufacturability remain questions for a later prototype. Keeping that distinction clear lets the imagery be evaluated for the design decisions it actually presents.
PROCESS NOTEBOOK
Use the supplied views to distinguish silhouette decisions from surface treatment.
Archive review connects the existing work below. Next explorations describe new development ideas.

01 / Archive review
The curved overlays carry the eye from heel to forefoot. Compare that path in the profile and angled view rather than treating the surface details as separate decoration.
02 / Next exploration
The deep sole anchors the shoe while recesses break up the upper. A new study could compare a quieter upper with a more open version using the same stance.
03 / Next exploration
A matching set of orthographic views would be the next bridge into geometry. The existing concept images do not establish a production-ready 3D model.
