Photograph and study angular rooflines, lattice patterns and the meeting of light and shadow. Look for relationships that remain recognizable beyond the building.

VIRTUAL SUPPLY CHAIN TRANSPARENCY / CHINA, 2025
From Suzhou, Wuxi and Shanghai to a footwear concept. An exploration of architecture, cultural references and the path from observation to design.
Explore the process
In 2025, I traveled to China to study how architecture, culture and contemporary design exist together. Across Suzhou, Wuxi and Shanghai, I collected visual references that could become the foundation of a new design language.
Presented in my original Figma archive as Virtual Supply Chain Transparency, this project follows the development of an idea: from places and observations, through sketches and material references, to the Prevail One footwear concept.

The design investigation moves between scales. A roofline becomes a possible panel edge. A repeated architectural detail becomes a surface rhythm. The purpose is to carry the logic of a place into a new object.
Photograph and study angular rooflines, lattice patterns and the meeting of light and shadow. Look for relationships that remain recognizable beyond the building.
Use hand sketches to simplify the reference into lines, volumes and transitions. Explore which gestures can inform a shoe’s silhouette and panel layout.
Bring those relationships into a digital footwear study. Compare the emerging object with the original reference and refine its proportions.

Stone, sand, clay and carbon establish a restrained material direction. Their quiet contrast lets geometry lead, connecting the footwear exploration to the architectural references.

The final concept brings the study’s angular geometry into a wearable silhouette. Its panel relationships reference the skylights and rooflines of Suzhou Museum, translating an experience of space into an object.
The project documents a design direction: a connection between travel, close observation and footwear development. The digital study gives that direction a form to evaluate and develop further.
PROCESS NOTEBOOK
Observation becomes form through the archived architectural references and gesture sketches.
Archive review connects the existing work below. Next explorations describe new development ideas.

01 / Archive review
The roofline, ceiling and lattice photographs offer different rhythms. The gesture drawing simplifies those observations into a smaller number of lines.
02 / Archive review
The supplied Tripo Studio view shows the digital footwear study within its working interface. It is genuine program documentation; a separate topology wireframe was not supplied.
03 / Next exploration
A next model review could compare the same panel gesture in side, front and top views, checking whether the architectural reference remains coherent around the object.
